DIRECTOR OF TECH SERVICES

 

 

The Director of Tech Services handles the TS team within the clan. Tech Services is designed to look after all of the clans infrastructure including website, forums, discord, gameservers, windows servers and anything else technically related. The Director of Tech Services requires extensive experience in web applications, servers and discord management. They are usually someone well known in the clan, as they have unlimited access to all areas.

 

Be aware, any user can apply for this position, regardless of rank. If the application is accepted, the applicant will be promoted up to the minimum rank requirement on appointment to their position.

 

This position posting can also be used for the Assistant Director of Tech Services, with the exception of minimum rank requirement, and that the assistant Director can not authorize any promotions unless granted by the Director.

Responsibilities:

 

• Recruit any tech services members that show an interest in the department. The director should not rely on applications coming to them, but rather seek out clan members who have shown dedication and enthusiasm in tech world.

 

• Handle applications for the department. Review the candidates details whom has applied to become a tech services officer. Its important to note that tech services officers usually have high level of access to most areas of the clan, so individuals applying for such positions, should be vetted and reviewed with caution.

 

• Manage and train new members of tech services, tech them our systems and a comprehensive training session of our website. The website does alot of automation for the clan, so its good to identify the areas that can sometimes cause problems or crash. As stated, TS officers have alot of access, so rules and limits need to be put in place by the Director to guide users what can and can not be done (eg: deleting stuff is bad, hiding stuff is good).

 

• Run reports from the website / forums and present to senior members of the clan. Monthly stats are good to show how we are progressing.

 

• General management of the website. If your experience permits, you will have full access to the source code of the website. You can create new features, adapt and fix existing features or simply fix typos. 

 

• Discord management. Tech services are responsible for updating discord roles, settings, colors, posts and general structure within the discord server. If authorized to delete old regiment channels, these should be moved to archive. Check the bot is fully functional and working at all times.

 

• Generally speaking, the Tech Services are responsible for updating and adding data. If something is out of date on the website or discord, this is usually updated by TS. Manage dropbox folders to ensure everything is safe and organized. Whatever experience you have, we will generally let the Director of Tech Services help in that area, weather that be PHP, MySQL, Windows Server, Discord, Invision Forums or game servers

 

• General day-to-day management of the department. We allow all directors to run their department as they see fit. A director will ensure the department is active, professional and follows the standards setout by the Code of Conduct. As long as the department is functioning well and benefits the clan at all times, the director has free reign.
