TECH SERVICES  OFFICER

 

As a Tech Services officer, you are generally responsible for managing anything technical within the clan. That could be the website, forums, discord, or game servers. The ideal TS officer will have experience in discord management, user management, PHP and MySQL. Windows / Linux is a bonus. Our discord bot is written in Node JS, so that would also be a major bonus too. 

Tech Service Officers have a lot of unsupervised access to many systems within Ace. The minimum rank requirement to join the department is to encourage long serving and committed clan members to join. Please do not expect to join the clan and the same day have an application to join Tech Services accepted. We need to see some commitment and give you some trust first.

 

Be aware, any user can apply for this position, regardless of rank. If the application is accepted, the applicant will be promoted up to the minimum rank requirement on appointment to their position.

Responsibilities:

 

• Keep all information up to date in discord, the website and forums. If you see anything outdated, TS officers will usually be the ones to update it.

 

• Run reports from the website / forums and present to senior members of the clan. Monthly stats are good to show how we are progressing.

 

• General management of the website. If your experience permits, you will have full access to the source code of the website. You can create new features, adapt and fix existing features or simply fix typos. If you want to develop on our website, you should have experience with PHP, MySQL and JavaScript. We also use git to version control.

 

• Review log files from other users on the website, and ensure there is no access abuse being committed. Promotions and demotions should have a good reason attached to their log file. 

 

• Discord management. Tech services are responsible for updating discord roles, settings, colors, posts and general structure within the discord server. If authorized to delete old regiment channels, these should be moved to archive. Check the bot is fully functional and working at all times.

 

• Work with the admissions and regiment teams to update rosters and remove inactive members. Set ranks manually if required to do so. 

 

• Add / Edit new forum sections on our forum when authorized to do so.

 

• Create or archive channels in discord.

 

• Manage the rosters and application system on the website. All details should be correct, and access groups set correctly.

 

• Work and develop the discord bot if you have experience with Node JS.

 

• Organize the file structure on dropbox to ensure everything is safe and organized.

 

• Give users access to systems if they are required to have it.
